Perimeter Area Song
The point of this song is to help students remember the difference between perimeter and area and how to find each.
We do hand motions to the song. For the perimeter part, draw a random multi-sided polygon in the air. Add another side to your polygon as you sing each beat (on the word “find” and each time you say the “im” in “perimeter.”) When you get to “add all” then sky write a big plus sign. On the area part, draw a rectangle in the air as you sing. Add a side to your rectangle on the following syllables: rec, ar(ea), rec, ar(ea). When singing “times” then draw a large ”X” in the air.
